Is acupuncture effective for treating seasonal allergies?

Dont know about Acupuncture, but I have known Homeopathy to work wonders in all sorts of Allergies and totally without any side effects or complications. If you can describe the symptoms you are going through I can suggest an appropriate Homeopathic remedy. Feel free to email me if you need my help.

Take Care and God Bless ! Source(s): Homeopathic Practitioner
As before I neither know about acupuncture however you can always try it. Personally I would go for supplements Quercitin with a good multi and most importantly Probiotic... Fish Oil and Omega 6 are good for inflammation so they may be useful.
Seasonal allergy? Hay fever? Pollen fever? do not know about acupuncture however homeopathic medicines work wonderfully well .. especially hay fever and pollen allergies .. feel free to ask should that be your affliction ..
Supposedly; yes! A co-workers' son has bad allergies & after only 2 visits, can be directly exposed to the allergins with no ill effects!
i was unable to find information for acupuncture and seasonal allergies, but found it for acupuncture and asthma. you can probably judge the relatedness of the processes yourself. initial studies found positive results, but were uncontrolled. when sham treatments were used as control, researchers found no improvement. meta-analysis (combining) of multiple trials showed no significant improvement, though the trials varied so greatly in methodology and other important factors that the authors concluded that a larger and better controlled study was needed. my opinion is that, if anything, it's probably not a huge effect compared to placebo. a lot of the evidence for homeopathy is anecdotal, not in controlled experiments. at the very least, the theory behind it is not scientific at all. western medicine would tell you about a hyperactive immune response, while homeopathy would tell you about energy flows and blockages which have not been observed empirically. however, homeopathy is based on thousands of years of empirical experience, which in all seriousness is not to be dismissed. supposedly some commercial drugs have come from plants identified by rainforest shamans as having certain effects (though they probably also have a lot of crap too). to my knowledge acupuncture is not harmful (other than maybe to your pocketbook), and at the very least you can get a placebo effect, which is often pretty significant by itself. but you also have to use common sense -- when someone tells you they have a magic cure for a whole bunch of things, how likely is it to be true?
