What do acupuncture needles contain? Acupuncture needles do not contain anything. Modern disposable needles are typically made of stainless steel and discarded after use. Some needles are made from gold and silver, but these are used infrequently. Treatment is obtained via the correct use of acupuncture points and needle stimulation techniques. Their effectiveness comes from energizing the body's "vital energy" or chi, at the points in which they are inserted. I have been a massage therapist since 2000. Nothing. they're not made any differently than the sterile needles used for sutures or injections. They are just a much finer gauge. A little painful, but the releif you feel after a treatment is worth it. |
