IBS and Acupuncture?

Ive been told that acupuncture can work for IBS sufferers, at the moment im just house bound and going up the wall, ive had enough.!
Have you had acupuncture, does it work? Is there some that work and others that dont? How many sessions will it take?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Aaahhh, acupuncture. I have scoliosis and I tried everything, I mean it, everything. Acupuncture worked, not once but consistently everytime. There are different zones all over the body to detox and help with every problem you could imagine. As soon as she hit my liver spot, it felt like warm water rushing all over my body. It was my liver detoxifying. My first session I noticed a difference almost immediatly. I have recommended it to everyone I know and have gotten my friends hooked. Couple that the day after with a yoga class and you are set. Oh, and be ready for a potentially emotional reaction to acupuncture. I know quite a few people who cried during or after, even days after, a treatment, but it is all good. Good luck!
I go to an acupunturist. Just for some back pain, though. But it seems to have helped me a lot. I've heard all sorts of stories about the great things that acupuncture has done for people. It's worth a try.
Anything would be worth a try with IBS. My 30yr old daughter has it and controls it with 'Spasmonal Capsules' from her GP. They have really helped her but I think you should try acupuncture if all else has failed. Best wishes.
I had it and it did not work I just keep mine under control with my diet I found that eating meat made mine worse so instead I have gone over to soya instead of meat
Accupuncture has been pretty much debunked. Just the placeboe effect, really, It is a scandal that the NHS seems to endorse it.
JREF, CSICOP
I have IBS and other health problems and I started going to the acupuncturist in mid-August.
Initially it helped very much for many problems. I could hardly believe it. The first time, it got worse, then things improved from the second time. I have had some problems since, but not as bad. I have gone nine times. It may take tune-ups monthly or so to keep the benefits going. When looking for an acupuncturist, look for being licensed and the level of training. If the person has training in Tai Chi or advanced martial arts, that's a definite plus.

Have you tried adding fiber to your diet?
I have added fig newtons and make tea of boiling water and 1.5 TBSPs of flax seeds which steeps for 15-20 minutes. Then I drink the tea and chew the seeds very well at night before bed. Do you take acidophilus supplements or yogurt? Do you use magnesium supplements? If you start magnesium, go slow, it can cause diarrhea. It is necessary for muscles to relax.

I hope you find something that works for you. It is horrible to feel tied to one's plumbing.
