Anybody tried acupuncture? |
does it work? does it hurt??? I had great results, and I LOVED it! I have a huge needle-phobe, but it really didn't feel like needles. All I felt was a tap, like someone tapping their finger on you, an that was it! I even fell asleep a few times. I STRONGLY recommend it! I did to try to quit smoking. It does not hurt one bit. And it did not work for me. I lit up the minute i left the office i personally haven't had it done but have many tattoos and i do have piercings that are acupunture points. I've also watched someone have it done. I've touched the needles ( not ones that were used on anyone ) It's a very flexable needle. I mean you can bend it over and touch end to end. It's also a very almost hair thin needle. Depending on what you are having it done for, it can take anywhere from 3 to 10 treatments or longer. The most pain might be a very light pinch. but other wise mostly no pain. Yes it does work. I have my tregus's pierced. The cartilage piece in front of the ear. I dont have headachs anymore, none the less migrains either. If i do my headach is from tentions which doesn't happen by maybe once a year. So it works well. Unintentionally - when I attempt to sew. Ouch! I had a series of treatments for acne when I was a teenager and I used it for pain management when I shattered my wrist doing Tae Kwon Do. It worked very well. I went to an actual Chinese MD who had immigrated to my area. It was wonderful! When done correctly it will not hurt or bleed, though you may feel pricks in some body parts more than others. I for example, felt nothing in my arms, head, face, legs, stomach and hands, but I did have minor prickling when needles were placed between my toes and on my fingertips. Overall, I had about 15 sessions and only stopped because I moved away to college. My dad saw the same MD for years and had acupuncture (with electricity) to manage pain from a horrible car accident, as well as pain associated with having polio as a child. He loved it as well. Our acupuncturist kept the room cozy and warm, lights dimmed and played beautiful Chinese music softly in the background - after the needles were in, she wrapped you up nicely in a sheet and left the room any you were free to doze off for about 20-30 minutes. If you do it, really research the practitioner - my mom and sister tried someone from a hotel seminar on weight loss - they both wound up bleeding from needle stuck in their ears! Find out exactly how/where the acupuncturist was located and whether your regular MD recommends them - many doctors recognize the value of Eastern medicine more and more now. I tried it and it does not hurt, I don't think it is very effective either. I loved it! I did it to quit smoking, but it didn't really work for that because a) I stopped going due to financial restraints, b) I wasn't ready to quit. But, it was amazing. It didn't hurt - some placements caused weird tingly sensations (often in another part of the body!). I would come out feeling like a million dollars. Any type of ache or pain I had going into the session - even if I wasn't consciously aware of it - disappeared once I left my session. It was calming and relaxing. Do research, though. Not all accupuncturists are the same, just like not all western doctors are the same. |
