Just started to have acupuncture sessions which leave me with bad bruising , is this normal ? |
The bruising occurs obviously where the needles are inserted in some areas , the sessions seem to work , but the bruising is so sore after , i'm no expert but would like to know if this is just the price you pay to be cured ! Unfortunately, bruising is a potential side effect of acupuncture, and your acupuncturist should have discussed that with you. If you normally bruise easily or are taking blood thinners, then your chances for bruising from acupuncture will be greater. When I perform acupuncture, I rarely create bruises. Some practitioners are more gentle, and some feel that they need to be more vigorous. You can put a cube of ice over the bruise. Tell the therapist that you are getting a lot of bruising so that they can adjust their technique. If the bruises are really bad, I would find a different therapist. There is variation among practitioners in other fields, too. I have been to rough and gentle dentists, chiropractors, etc. Find someone you like. This isn't normal. Seek another or different acupuncturist! i believe its abnormal, accupuncture generaly just elaves small holes, not bruiseing, you may be dealing with a fake doctor, or quack. I worked for a doctor who did acupunture and I must say that st least half of our patients had some sigh of brusing or had some sort of sign on their body that this procedure was made. Sensitive skin isn't the only reason for this ruising, there are many other factors such as: needles used, the preasure used, and ointments that may use on your body efore or after the treatment. I suggest you tell your doctor that you feel a little worried, and there might e something that he culd do to try to help. I've never had accupuncture but I would think that the needles are not being inserted properly if they're leaving bruises later. (ex: like when they draw blood, if not done properly, leaves bruising)I've never heard of bruising in accupuncture before. Could be your just very sesitive, Ask other accupuncturer's if bruising is a side effect. NO, PAIN BRUISING UNNECESSARY. IT COULD BE MALPRACTICE. PERSONALLY, I AM AGAINST ACUPUNCTURE WHY BRUISE YOURSELF? MASOCIST? ACUPUNCTURE IS "ALTERNATE" MEDICINE. I WOLD HUMBLY SUGGET MAINSTREAM WESTERN MEDICINE doesn't sound right; I'd talk to my doctor if I were you and not get any more accupuncture from whoever it was who's been doing it for you. |
