Is it possible that acupuncture could restore feeling in areas of the body such as the feet ? |
I have peripheral neuropathy in my metatarsals caused by diabetes. There is no pain only a numbness that doesn't significantly increase or decrease. The blood circulation in that area also seems to be sufficient. if you have any kind of trouble with your feet and you have diabetes then you shoul definatly see what your dr. suggest before trying actupuncture you should see a pediatrist and see what they think they soecialize in feet care good luck Source(s): my husband is a diabetic I have heard of acupuncturists that can help peripheral neuropathy. But you need to make sure you go to a qualified acupuncturist with at least 3 years training. You can find qualified acupuncturists on this site http://www.tcmdirectory.com http://www.tcmdirectory.com The sensory nerves are destroyed that is why the lack of sensation. Acupuncture will have no effect. Yes, it can help, but each person responds differently and in different degrees to acupuncture treatment. Some take longer than others to see results. My acupuncturist works on stroke patients as well, and has helped them regain more movement than just physical therapy alone. I had acupuncture for Peripheral Neuropathy, all it did was give me a couple more orifices....Liz. |
