Why do people think acupuncture is so scarey when it doesn't even hurt?

I'm an acupuncturist, that said. I just don't know where people get the idea its hollow needles like the ones used to draw blood.
I guess its needles in general cause for a squeam fest but maybe I'm wrong, not the first time.

people in general are very put off by the thought of having something be put into there skin or body...and when you talk about acupunture....it involves more than one needle....that in itself is scary enough....some people are just scared of needles not to mention those who actually faint from the sight of needles....
its just the sight of needles
An asian porforating you with needles to incite small dopamine reactions from tingling is no replacement for a nice body massage.

I rather pinch myself and jerk off, its free.
first of all, there is the fear of needles, Belonephobia. that alone can scare someone from the doctor, so why would they want to voluntarily choose to have needles in them. after that comes that fact that some people make it hurt, they see the needle and make the pain in there mind. others have had bad experiences, or heard about bad experiences. personally, i am not afraid, but i understand why one would be.
