What are the negatives about acupuncture? All I read is the wonders of this miracle treatmentwharever ails us. The only down side is catching a contagious disease if the needles are not sterilized properly. accupuncturists generally use disposable needles now. I have used acupuncture several times for pinched nerves and have had amazing results. I'm generally a skeptic about alternative therapy. I was talked into it by a friend when I had a very painful nerve pinch in my shoulder. I hadn't really slept for three days because of the pain. After my first treatment I had to really concentrate just driving home because I was becoming so relaxed. When I got home I didn't even make it to my bedroom, I collapsed on my couch and slept solidly for six hours. When I awoke I ate a small dinner,stayed up for two hours and went back to sleep (this time in my bed)for eight solid hours of sleep. When I woke up my shoulder felt a little weak, but there was no pain. In about three days I felt like I had gained total strength in my arm. I also tried it to quit smoking with much less success. After the acupuncture therapy was over I felt like I had to quit all over again. I think its success rate depends on what you're using it for. this site gives the results of several tests which have been carried out to determine the effectiveness of acupuncture on ailments from chronic back pain, to morning sickness, and asthma.
