I am interested in having acupuncture done to relieve back pain? |
i have had 2 back surgerys and i still have back pain.. i am interested in hearing about anyones feed back on acupuncture. Even acupressure is good with the right person doing it. this is a great idea but it's quite expensive I've had acupuncture and after my 1st tx I swore the man was a miracle worker. I had it done for severe back pain. I walked out of there with better posture than I've ever had in my life, feeling better already, then as the day went on, I just kept improving! It beats chiropractic hands down, but for less intense pain I prefer a good massage. I think acupuncture is one of the best ways to relieve pain. I haven't had back surgery, but I get incredible upper back pain that runs up my back into my head to create massive headaches. The acupuncture was the only thing that relieved my pain until I had surgery (breast reduction, not back... for my back though). My acupuncturist was from China and he would put the needles in my back (you don't feel it AT ALL). He would then spin them (you feel this a little but there is no pain involved) and then my back would just heat up (like aaaahhhhhh). If you touched my back though it would feel cool. I describe the sensation as though you took all of your skin off and laid in a tanning bed. Crazy good stuff. I suffer from chronic back pain. Make sure you get someone who is very aware and knows what they are doing! My understanding is that the little needs effect your body in such a way that it doesn't really hurt, but it does stimulate the release of endorphines (your body's natural pain killers). And if you do some research on endorphines you'll find if you can get enough released they are much more effective and safer than any drug form of pain killer so if it does get enough endorphones released for you, that would be good. |
