I know I want to try acupuncture. Why should I talk to my primary health care professional first? I don't know. I didn't. I tried it once and thought it was good, but I didn't care for the alternative herbal supplements the acupuncturist gave me to take with me. He didn't explain what the supplements were made of or what they were for. So, I didn't take them. While alternative medicines are often portrayed as "natural" and therefore "good," in some cases supplements can prove damaging to one's health. St. John's Wort can reduce the effectiveness of the birth control pill. http://www.naturalproductsinsider.com/ho... Other articles for you... Herbal Supplements - "Natural" Doesn't Always Mean Safe http://www.spine.org/articles/herbal_sup... I still recommend the acupuncture. I simply suggest you question taking any supplements. Your primary health care professional would be a good person to see about this. By the way, acupressure is great too. Good luck! |
