Cat allergies???

Ive been around about 5 different cats over the last 2 months. 4 of the 5 cats i was allergic to. The 4 that gave me allergies were short hair. Could someone tell me why i was allergic to only 4 of the cats?

The allergen from cats normally comes from their sebaceous glands, the most of which is in their saliva and skin. I'm allergic to cats, but each cat causes a different reaction. Some cats produce less of the allergen, or more than normal so this impacts your reactions differently.

I have been allergic to cats all my life. I have discovered that I can be around just one cat and build up a resistance to that particular cat. However, when I visit someone with a cat, I am very allergic to it.

But one very important rule I follow with cats and also dogs, I always, always wash my hand after petting them. This action alone has reduced the effects of my allergies.

Cat Dander is Omni-Present.
