Allergies to fruit? |
I remember ever since I was a little girl that I've gotten weird reactions to fruit. Main raw fruits such as watermelon, cantalope, grapes, apples, etc. Except fruits like pineapple, peaches and pears don't seem to bother me. As far as reactions I either feel like my throught is swollen and I talk funny or the inside of my gums feel swollen. I went to my docter to try and find out what it was, but I really don't want an allergy test because I cannot stand needles. Anyone want to help me out here? wooooow dont eat fruit! your def. allergic you have to go see a doctor and what he will do will take these square shaped things with a bunch of small needles on it filled with extract from all the allergy possibilities (fruit, in your case) and push them lightly onto your back. it doesn't hurt it only enters a tiny bit of each fruit into your skin to see which ones you will react to. depending on how many the doctor tries and how many you're allergic to then your back will itch really bad but you won't be able to scratch it until he sees which ones are turning red. don't be afraid i have been through it and am deathly allergic to peanuts =) hope this helps! All they have to do is take a blood test. Usually is just one stick. I would do it to make sure that you are. I have the same problem. I can only eat citrus fruits. I told my doctor about it and they said that alot of people have this problem. Then they do th hol skin test thingto see which fruits u react to. But you do have an allergy to fresh fruits and the only thing you can do is not eat them, or take a benadryl after you do Ask for a RAST test, which is where they take a blood sample and send it off. You really need to know - reactions to fruit can kill you! Do you have a problem with fruit if it is cooked or just raw? If you are only allergic to raw fruit, then you probably have oral allergy syndrome. I used to have it too. I was allergic to nearly all raw fruits and vegetables too. Just getting watermelon juice on my skin made me break out in a rash. It is linked with pollen allergies. After being on allergy desensitation shots for five years for my pollen allergies, my allergy to raw fruits and vegetables went away! Now I can even eat watermelon and it does not bother me. |
