Allergies or Not?

Hi All,

Last week I noticed 7 small pinprick sized bumps appear on my torso spread randomly out of nowhere. They went away within a few days, no problem. When they appeared they looked like a little sweat bee had stung me in each place.

Well today after my shower, I dried off, put on shorts and almost immediately my leg started itching, I look down, and see two bumps, fairly small, about the size of a rice grain on my thigh.

I'm wondering what I could be allergic to, or if its an allergy, or if I have dust mites/scabies/body lice, etc?

My girlfriend sleeps in the same bad, has nothing to mention on her body.

I've not switched bodywashes or anything in a long time. I did do laundry at the laundromat a while back because our washer was broken. Could I have picked up some critters or something on the tables there where I folded my laundry?

Just wondering how to get rid or prevent these bumps. They seem to appear out of nowhere and then disappear on their own, without treatment.

Also to note, I already use Purpose Face Wash and Dove Sensitive Skin Body Wash. I use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo. Just trying to figure out where the allergens (if thats what it is) is coming from.

I'm a very hygienic person, shower twice a day, etc.

What products are good for allergies as in bodywashes, etc that you can find easily and not have to order online? Also, I use Tide powder and Fabric Softener in my laundry.

Any other tips/advice/suggestions very much appreciated!

JS: After reading your question and follow-up several things come to mind. First, I would rule out scabies, because your description does not match and the location is not their favored part of the body. Second, I wouldn't suspect dust mites right away, because those symptoms tend to come on at night and morning and then go away as the day progresses. They don't happen in the shower. So, because it is happening in the shower, it makes me think of either your personal care products or your towels. Lots of personal care products contain formaldehyde and paraben. These are common allergens. Also, many laundry detergents contain harsh chemicals, dyes, fragrances, and enzymes that are ALL allergy causers and skin irritants. Even if you use something like Arm & Hammer's dye & fragrance free detergent, there could have been residue in the washer at the laundromat. I am giving you a link to an article about formaldehyde. Even if those bumps go away you should read it and then start reading the labels of EVERYTHING in your house. It is scary. If you are looking for a personal care line that doesn't have those chemicals or other allergens, then check out the stuff made by Vanicream. They have soap and shampoo and hair gel and stuff for your skin like lotion and sunscreen without all those toxic embalming chemicals. I will find a link for that stuff too and you can check it out.

sounds ike acne

It is a very good chance you picked up body lice from the laundry mat. It does seem however you would be itching alot more. If you are not itching any and your girlfriend does not break out though it's probably nothing. Just watch it and if it continues see a dermatologist.
