My child wont drink her formula and she is now off breastmilk and i know its not a milk allergy she is 6 mos?

im sorry i wasnt clear just learning to work this...anyways she has been on formula for awhile now she was half formula half breastmilkas of four months..my supply was drying up and i took pills to increase breastmilk but it didnt work so i gave up i am tapped out now so there is no going back to breastmilk. i am wondering if it is due to teething but am unsure....she is on cereals but she just wont drink all the formula she only drinks like half the amount she is supposed to but my doctor says its normal but i havent heard of that with babies

I agree with Rana,

BF babies tend to not like formula because its thick, its smells, and she may be upset with you for taking away her skin-to-skin time with you that she got from BRF.

Go back to brf for now, and pump the milk. Its not really fair to expect that just b/c you were ready to wean that she would want to stop too. Plus, you were her source of nutrition, comfort, and peace....
This is not uncommon however, but just understand the situation....You should definitely get some help from your local LLL or lactation professional..

best of luck...

BTW go ahead and start some solid foods-baby foods and cereal, also you can start a sippy cup with diluted 100% juice and water....its great you made it to brf exclusively for 6 mos....At least she can start the other developmental feeding stage, but she needs that breastmilk:)

Its too early to start cows milk....the proteins are allergenic to infants under age one b/c their immune systems are immature and will manifest as an allergy upon re-introduction after age 1-when immune system recognizes itself and matures.

You haven't really asked a question?
Is the question that she won't drink formula?

I don't blame her. If you were nursing and stopped, then she probably just HATES formula. It digests slower, has more waste which results in more painful bowel movements, causes more gas and indigestion.

If your baby seriously hates formula, go back to breastfeeding. If you stopped because you had to go back to work, then look up (on the LLLI.org website) your state laws and make your boss provide you with time and space for pumping.
You'll be doing yourself and your baby a favor that lasts a lifetime for you both.

Sometimes when babies are switched from breast to formula it causes problems. We babysat a baby who had had nothing but breast milk and the first night we kept him, I was short of giving him a breast just to suck on because he screamed so long and so loud - lol!!!

I finally bought some Playtex Drop In bottles and used the Natural Latch Nipples (not the clear silicone ones, the brown ones) I boiled the nipples for just a second to soften them more. We used Parent's Choice Lactose Free Formula and he took right to it.

We had tried about 5 or 6 different bottle/nipple combinations until we found one he liked, but after that, he didn't even want to nurse when she came home at night (UH-OH!!!)

I would highly recommend these bottles and formula, they worked well for us.

Good luck! Things will get better...

its usually hard to shitch a child from the breast to the bottle because of the difference in taste. ask your childs doctor first but try a different formula, if you still have breast milk mix it, or try whole milk.
