What is the difference between having a cold & having allergies? |
like - how does it feel? With allergies the eyes may itch and water and with a cold you shouldn't have itchy eyes. The offending item in an allergy affects the nose, eyes and throat often. The cold does not tend to make a problem in one's eyes then. The cold can cause sinus pressure and congestion and with allergies the nose may be stuffed or runny but not congested from that usually. Hope that makes sense and you can see the difference. Also colds can cause pflem to be released in the throat and not in an allergy reaction that I have seen or heard. The biggest symptom that I have is the burning sensation in my sinus cavity in my nose. The minute it starts, I take a benadryl and a claritin. The benadryl works faster but the Claritin lasts longer. Good luck. The difference is when u have a cold u are coughing and things but it's almost similar as to having allergies but when u have allergies your eyes are kind of icthcy and runny like but some of the symptoms are the same. So if u think u have allergies u should go and see a doctor. cold is just coughing, running nose, etc. Allergies is much more serious. It depends how severe they are. It can range from being conjested and maybe an ear infection, to choking and sneezing on everyone regurely, or (this happened to me a couple times) not being able not breathe at all and having to go to the doctor or ER. If it is a skin allergy or an allergy that is not very severe at all, you may just get a rash. I am allergic to a lot of things. (Including French Fries and Gum!) |

Seriously, if your allergies are really bad you may need to start allergy therapy with shots. The best recomendation I can give you is to use saline rinses atleast ... I thought that this type of conjunctivitis was caused by Diptheria, or from eye surgery. Never heard of many people in the states having this but alot of this in Africa. Never heard of it ...
