I'm allergic to antihistamines!! But need help with allergies!!?

I have horrible allergies but I'm allergic to antihistamines!! Actually, they cause bad anxiety symptoms and I already have panic disorder. So anything to avoid those panicy symptoms helps but I'm constantly suffering from allergies. What can I take to help??

It is not that you are allergic to antihistimines - there are ingredients in many over the counter ones that cause the hyper-active problems you are facing ( I mean chmical hyper activity that causes heart palpitations and increases symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder,Anxiety, etc. , not just physical - although both can happen!).

Also, our bodies become used to a certain brand of antihistimines over time. I had to change brands every few months to get the relief I needed.

Now for the good news! There is a new class of antihistimines that works on the allergies but doesn't cause the hyper symptoms - ask your pharmacist about these ones specifically and give them a try. You may have to try more than one brand - there are now many. Also, your doctor may be able to presceibe the same type if you have a drug plan.

As a last resort, shots work after a year or so.

Good Luck!
You have to see an allergist. Any advice from non-doctors via the Internet would be dangerous to follow.

Many antihistamines can increase your metabolism and thereby increase your anxiety and panic symptoms. No one antihistamine has the exact same effect on everyone. So, you need to see a doctor and have the right prescription established just for you.

I don't think you are really "allergic" to antihistamines. But, from what you describe, you do have some bad reactions to them.

Hope this helps.

there is a natural fruit drink that helps with allergies and lots of other stuff its called Xango I know of people that have had great results with this juice and it will also help you with your panic disorder look it up its really good and good for your health.
Bad news. Get rid of candy and cakes and junk food. Start eating raw vegetables and fruit instead. Mix them in a blender for some good tasting drinks. That does not mean to go vegetarian; it means to add those things to your diet and lose the good sweet stuff. Get rid of sodas and ice cream and all that kind of fast food. Drink more water. A lot more. Breakfast should have a good protein source to get you going and keep you going through the morning. Take your allergies into your own hands and do it. Exercise. Get that circulation and lymph system going and flowing.
