Can anyone offer any advice or severe eczema and allergies?

My niece is 2 and has suffered from severe itching, eczema, and food allergies all her life. the doctors recommend massive doses of steroids, but this is not effective nor do we want to continue this route if possible. We are looking for a more permanent, natural or holistic approach if possible. Any suggestions?

In Japan and turkey they have a treatment for it where you get into a sauna and let little fish eat off the eczema flesh.

I have one small spot of it in a rather bothersome and obvious place. I find that when I eat anything with yeast in it... or raw onions, it aggravates it and it gets all inflamed.
Try these to avoid a major outbreak of her eczema:
Wearing 100 per cent cotton or soft fabrics - avoiding rough, scratchy fibres and tight clothing
Having lukewarm baths and showers using a non-soap cleanser or hypoallergenic bath oil and avoiding extremely hot water
Gently patting, not rubbing, the skin dry with a soft towel
Applying a moisturiser within three minutes after bathing to "lock in" the moisture
When possible, avoiding rapid changes of temperature and activities that raise a sweat
Removing carpets and rugs from houses (if possible) and giving pets dander treatments
Ventilating the house as often as possible
Avoiding stuffed toys which harbour dust mites
Changing bed linen regularly, vaccuuming mattresses regulary for dust mites and avoiding feather-filled pillows
Reducing daily stress
Learning what triggers eczema and how to avoid them.

100% cotton is definately the way to go but this means pillow cases, sheets, covers and VACCUMING a mattress will not get rid of DUSTMITES unless you have a KIRBY VACCUM.ALL household vacs are SURFACE cleaners but the KIRBY VAC! So, a cheaper more affordable way to go is a PLASTIC mattress COVER until you can buy a new bed.Pillows should be cleaned with chemical free laundry soap and peroxide not chlorine bleach. Also, your nieces CLOTHING,most are made with SYNTHETICS all the way down to the insides of shoes!!! The CHEMICALS in all household items cause me and my face to breakout.Food does not bother me but the CHEMICALS DEFINATELY TRIGGER and synthetics are made from chemicals.KEEP in mind HEALTH FOOD STORES ALLOW LYING COMPANY PRODUCTS ON THERE SHELVES TO AND I LEARN THIS THE HARD WAY.I HAVE A BAG OF PRODUCTS FROM THE HEALTH STORE THAT SAY THEY ARE NATURAL,THEY ARE NOT! Feel free to email me with any questions...
