Strange eye allergy? |
I am a seasonal allergy sufferer, and 3 years ago I was prescribed Allegra to help with congestion from allergies, and such. Never before have I had severe eye allergies. However, 3 days ago I woke up congested and with severely swollen eyelids, and watering eyes. There was no gooey or colored discharge from my eyes, nor were they excessively red. Anyway, I can't figure out why my eyes are acting up like this. Nothing in my lifestyle has changed recently, all my make-up is hypoallergenic and I even went 2 days without wearing any to see if the problem stopped, which it didn't. I am allergic to pollen and feathers, but it has been heavily raining for the last 2 days so the air is fairly clear, and there are no feathers whatsoever in my house. I have a dog, but I am not allergic to her. I took some Benadryl which helped for a couple of hours but mostly succeeded in making me sleepy. I am back on the Allegra but it is not helping. Any help with remedies or causes welcome. Please help me! I have extremely bad eye allergies. Am mostly allergic to dust and dust mite which are indoor allergens so that means that i have allergies year round. I have something similar to you. My bottom eye lid is almost always red and itchy and also a little swollen. When it gets really bad, the skin starts to die so i have little pieces of white skin on the eye lid. The only way that it goes away for me is a special ointment that my allergist prescribed me. The scientific name of the ointment is fluorometholone ophthalimic ointment (FML). I had something like that once. My wasn't that reg, or gooey... but they itched like crazy!1 So i went to the Doctor and he took one look at me and said I had pink eye. Anyway you should go to a Doctor and he'll give you some eye drops that will get rid of it in a couple of days! I wish I knew the answer but here is a site with a couple of good articles you can check out. You may need to see a doctor again. http://www.infoesource.com/allergy.html... Well, it IS allergy season. If you insist that it's not allergies, which, it probably is...it could be viral conjuctivitis, or pink eye. It's very contagious, so don't touch your eyes and then touch someone else. You don't need Benadryl, you need eye drops. If it IS pink eye, you would need prescription eye drops to get rid of it faster. |
