What do you feed her? Your dog may be allergic to any of the following, or any combination: chicken, pork, beef, corn, wheat, soy, chemicals, colorings, artificial flavors, any grain.

Several brands make entire allergen-free foods for dogs.

Nature's Variety Instinct http://www.naturesvariety.com/instinct
(this company just redid their website and it looks FABULOUS)
Nature's Variety Raw http://www.naturesvariety.com/raw
Natural Balance http://naturalbalanceinc.com/dogformulas...
Wellness http://wellnesspetfood.com/dog_wellness_...

Keep in mind, there are many more. If none of these foods or other allergen-free foods work, you should ask your vet to run a blood test with your dog and see what she's allergic to. Then he/she will tell you what sort of ingredients to avoid; if you can't find one, you should either cook homemade for her or feed her prey-model raw.

I agree with the dog food answer. Nature's Variety (Venison) is awesome! My dogs used to suffer from allergies, especially this time of year. They always had to go to the vet for shots, etc. It was miserable. I felt so bad for them. Then a pet store owner suggested I switch to venison dog food (Prarie) and I honestly haven't had any issues since...granted - I switced food a few times trying different brands - but it worked! The skin allergy kinds have an immunity building ability...give it a try. Good luck!

If you give her benadryl, make sure you get the regular kind, not any special flavor, not the liquid, and DEFINITELY not the kind that is meant for colds, flus, etc.

You can give her half of a pill, and if that does not work than one pill (one pill is 25mg). It may make her groggy, so she should be attended to. If one pill doesn't help her, then you really should get a prescription allergy medication for her. Dogs, as well as humans, should not be given benadryl every day as not only does it make them tired (2 pills and I am out cold haha), but they can become dependant on it (not addicted exactly, but the symptoms will be worse whenever they don't take it.)

How big are the bumps, and what do they look like? If they were very swollen with a red dot in the middle of the bump, that's ant bites. My boxer has laid in an ant bed before -- same thing. She has also had allergies to the grass, and would get hives on her stomach -- just a rash of little red bumps. They didn't seem to bother her though, and she only had them for one summer.

If the bumps aren't bothering your dog, then you don't need to give her anything. but if they are, give benadryl -- NOT the liquid form, because it contains alcohol. The active ingredient in Benadryl is Diphenhydramine, so make sure that is the ONLY active ingredient, nothing else.

"Diphenhydramine (Benadryl庐) 鈥?Dogs and cats can be given 1-2 mg/lb every eight hours. This can be used to treat allergic reactions, and it also has some anti-anxiety and anti-vertigo effects. As a general rule, it is pretty safe stuff. The primary side effect is drowsiness, so please do not allow your pet to drink alcohol or operate heavy machinery while taking it."
