Aspartame (NutraSweet) allergies and sensitivities?

I've always been somewhat sensitive to aspartame, but yesterday I shared a glass of diet rootbeer with my daughter and about 40 minutes later I had the worst reaction of my life. Breathing difficulties, dizzyness, and extreme lethargy; I'm still ill today. Info about aspartame on the web is sketchy. Most sites that have info about aspartame are trying to sell you something...This reaction scared me so badly that I'll never let another drop of this stuff pass my lips.

Does anyone get these types of symptoms from aspartame and if so, are there other similar food additives that I should be aware of?

I watched a documentary about aspartame. That sh*t is poison... literally. It's composed of phenylalanine, methyl alcohol and aspartic acid... all poisonous substances. It is also broken down into formaldehyde. Yeah... I'm not joking. The name of the film was "sweet misery". i don't know if you'll be able to find it... I got it from my public library. I posted a link below where you can watch it. it's full of experts in chemistry and nutrition and shares personal stories of people's bad reactions with it. It was incredibly interesting. And the way it got FDA approval... disgusting!
Here are some good informative websites that aren't trying to sell anything... just get the information out there about what a poison it really is...

This one is an official FDA document about reported symptoms associated with aspartame:

Here's a brief clip of the movie I was telling you about, there is an address on the youtube page where you can view the full movie

I personally never suffered any of the symptoms that you have suffered, but since I've stopped using it, I feel all around better. i get fewer headaches, fewer stomach aches, I'm less tired and have more energy as well. As far as other things to stay away from, I really haven't heard too much about cross allergies with aspartame.... but I would stay away from anything with MSG in it as well.

Most artificial "diabetic-safe" sugars are not good for you. I have heard of some very serious health problems resulting from aspartame. I think commercial airline pilots are not permitted to have aspartame before their flights because it has been know to cause seizures. Here's a list of some of the side effects of aspartame: http://www.sweetpoison.com/aspartame-sid...
I know some people who will get headaches when they have MSG, and nitrites and nitrates are not good for you, either.

I get migraine if I drink the stuff. I am not as sensitive as before. Used to, it would trigger migraine from just a piece of gum. Now, it just burns my mouth if I chew too much. I steer clear of that stuff! My kids are the same way.
I read all labels...they put it in all kinds of foods. (phenylketonurics)
