Allergies are driving me crazy! What can I do?

I've never had allergies before... but late last year and all through the 'winter' season (I live in Orlando, FL), I started getting a stuffy / runny nose. I'd be up all night struggling to breathe -- sneezing, sniffing, etc. -- then sneeze constantly at work.

After months, it went away... but today it's come back! I guess the allergy season is back.

Like I said, I've never had to deal with these before and am sorta ignorant as to my options. I've used Claritin before and refuse to depend on that or any other medications I'll have to take daily. I'd rather suffer than constantly be buying pills.

Is there a longer-term think I can do? I remember one of my neighbors used to get allergy shots. How often do those happen, and how effective are they? I can't stand this runny nose!!!

Allergies are horrible this year anywhere you go. I've had allergies since I was 7 yrs old and I'm 25 now and this year it got worse (I live in Iowa). I've been taking Zyrtec and using Ayr Nasal spray but I can't use any of that stuff this week cause I have an appointment with an allergy specialist next week and there going to be running some tests on me.

I would suggest switching to Zyrtec and also take some Vitamin C. If your allergies get worse then try going to the doctor or maybe try seeing an allergy specialist
