Cat allergies???!!!?

Have you or anyone you know developed cat allergies a while after having a cat? I had a cat when I was younger and was fine. I just got a cat a little over a month ago and it's been fine. However the past two days, my hands, my neck and my head have been itching like crazy. The only thing that I can think of that's touched only those areas would be my cat. My hands from holding and petting him, and when he gets sleepy he crawls up on my shoulders and sometimes behind my neck. I really hope that's not what it is but I fear I may have to get rid of my cat. :(

well, one possibility is that it isn't the cat, but something the cat rolled in, like poison ivy.

try having her bathed/groomed and maybe it will help.

OH - there are lots of allergens out there this time of year, so don't be too quick to give up your cat.

Benadryl creme will reduce the itching on the red places.

Great. Its the cats. Do you get hives? I been getting massive hives and swelling to the face and hands. Im thinkin its somethin else triggering it so does my allergist cuz i never had an issue with the cats before. Im on prednsone for a bit and doxipen (zoholon) for probably a life time except when i drink on weekends

Hello,
A visit to your doctor may help. Explain your situation to he or she and i!m sure you will find out what the problem may be.
good luck
