Dog allergies causing sore. Help?

My dog has eye allergies, bad ones, and the vet perscribed benadryl and neosporin for any irritation. Her allergies are calming but she has scratched a nickle sized sore in the irritated are, she now has to wear a cone till it goes away, what can I do to help it heal and help it from coming back? your vet is not totaly wrong. But not perfect either. you can check my other answers to find out more about me. First I would have the vet perscribe her pregnasone for 10 days. he will give dosage by weight. She should not be on benadryle that long. the neosporin will help. I usually give them some penasilline vk per body weight. sorry wish I could spell. Very hard to get as doctors don't like to give out.
the sore is not that bad and will heal with what you are doing.
But you do need to find out what is causing the allergy. eye allergies are more than likely airborn allergies. dogs are like people. So if you have itchy water eyes like me. you know it is more than likely pollen. If it was all over her body I would say it was a food allergy. Never ues eye drops for humans in her eyes. wash eyes daily during high pollen times. I could be wrong it maybe another airborn problem. does anyone near her smoke? dust? wash eyes daily remover allergy problem. you obviously love your dog.

If it were me I would call the vet and have him give the dog some thing else. Tell him it just isn't working. There are Lot's of animals with allergies, and many different meds a vet can give them. As for the neosporin I always thought you shouldn't use things like this on a animal. The vet needs to give you a antibiotic cream for the dog. If he doesn't want to do any thing rather than what he has already done, find a new vet. Just think how that poor dog feels, allergies make us feel like crap can you imagine how he feels with dealing with that and having sores as well. Really I would call first thing tomorrow. I really hope you dog get well, I feel so sorry for the little thing. Good luck I hope this helps a little.

make sure there is NO corn in her food real bad stuff. Causes alllergies.
Get some new food..
dick van patten has a corn free dry food..mix both the old food and the new food together for a week otherwise she will get the runs. Then begining of the 2nd week give her just the new food. Her eye looks sore..poor pup.

i use neosporin and sufadine and put it on with a q-tip and it seems to make it heel faster then stay away longer
