A Lab, Skin Allergies, and Dog Treats.....?

My 3 year old yellow lab has skin allergies, we were feeding her Science Diet, but we switched to By Nature. She is doing MUCH better now. Last night I taught her the trick, "Say your prayers."(the release command is "amen") = ) but I was using dog treats to motivate her. Now she is itching again. I know she is either allergic to Corn, Soy, or Wheat. Is giving her dog treats bad for her?

If the treats you are giving her contain those things...then yes. Try finding some all natural treats. I give my dogs, Dogswell treats...they have chicken strips, sweet potatos, apples and chicken (that's the only ingredient...they are what they say they are) :D

I'd advice being careful about what you feed her... Try not giving her anything with corn in it for a couple of weeks. See if it helps. Then try the same thing with soy, and then wheat. Hopefully you'll be able to pinpoint the allergy, and then don't feed her anything with that in it. Until you're able to figure out exactly what she's allergice to, only feed her stuff she's used to. Maybe give her a kind of dog treat you know she doesn't react to instead of the kind you used last night!

Good luck!

If she is allergic to Corn, Soy or Wheat giving her treats with that in them would cause the same problems as dog food with it in them. Even a small amount will do it.

Read your labels... remove the food that is causing the problems... get other types of treats..
