Tattoo Allergies, help? 10 pts.?

I want to get either a blue or black dragon on my calf, it's not gonna be big. But I'm allergic to a lot of things, peniclinn, sulfur, much more. Could I get a serious infection, or allergic reaction from any ink, or even a tattoo? Thanks

It is very important to go talk to an artist who actually knows what he/she is doing. Even before you look at their portfolios tell them about your allergies and ask about the ingredients in the inks. If they don't have the ingredients listed on the bottles the artist should tell you the website for the inks they use. You can look for ingredients and allergies online. If the artist doesn't know or doesn't have a good answer, go ask a different artist. Don't be surprised to get more than one answer.
You may want to do a patch test just to check. You can get a tattoo on the bottom of your foot or the palm of your hand, the ink will not stay long in either of those places. It is best to check ingredients first, then do the patch test. Only use an artist who takes you seriously, not one who just tries to allay your fears and talk down to you.

you could, I would ask your physician what kinds of things that are in the ink and ask him if there is a way to tell if you will have a reaction.

also another way if you can find a tattoo artist that is willing to help you
tell him/her that you want a tat but you are afraid you will have a reaction
have them tattoa a small dot somewhere
you should then be able to watch it and see if you have a reaction in that small of a site it shuldnt be that big of a deal

also used a&d when you finally get one i have used a lot of different things and that seems to work the best

Most people aren't allergic to the blacks and greys. It's when you start getting colors is where issues can arise. I have some pretty nasty allergies and found out the hard way I am allergic to yellows in tattoos. Broke out in a very nasty rash on my wrist. But I made it through. Nothing gets between me and a tattoo. I have 5.

yeah.... my friend got a star on her wrist and she got some serious bumps. it just depends what you're allergic to. some inks are made of iron oxides (rust), metal salts, plastics, plant sources and all sorts of stuff. ask your tattoo artist what his/her ink is actually made of. please be careful!!

Dear Matrix, My rosary beads,
done in red ink, formed high
bumps on my are. Wished they where still there!!!!!!!!!!! Felt
like I got implants !!!!!!!!!!..
A good parlor will be able to put
your worries to sleep. Go first
class, good artist will put your
fears 2 rest.

Ask a tattoo artist! Personally, I don't believe so..but i would contact the artist you are having ink ya and ask them. Not all inks will be the same, so their ink might work for ya.

im allergic to that stuff too. my tattoos r good--if ur allergic to metals dont go with any reds. ull be fine
good luck!!!
