Anyone know of an allergy medicine to give a 11 month old?

He has been up all night crying, he has a runny nose, sneezing, coughing, and red puffy eyes (not just from crying) I was not sure if allergy meds. were part of that list of crap you can no longer give kids under 2.

Sorry I can not give out medical advice. But what you can do is call you local hospital, ask for pediatrics and then ask for a nurse. Explain to them who your doctor is, what your child's symptoms are and ask them what the standard protocol is for administering benadryl to an 11 month old infant. They are going to want his weight also. If they will not give you info, some will not, ask if you may speak with the MD on call for your pediatrition or if your pediatrition may be paged.
We don't mind. Its our job. We care about your children too (or we wouldn't work in peds).
Honestly, my infant is 19 months, weighs 26 #s, and I give her benadryl for stuffy noses. 1 teaspoon. Mother to mother.
The dose is according to weight and age so be careful.
Also, try a make shift steam room, run hot water in your shower and stand in the bathroom with the door closed holding the infant. Prop her head up when she is lying on you sleeping so her nose will drain.
Good Luck!

I believe the list of meds you can no longer give to kids under 2 is so the pharmaceutical companies can develop more new meds to sell for high prices.

Actifed was a clear yellow liquid antihistamine and decongestant given to infants and also used in nursing homes for a lot of years, that was very effective and not a danger, not habit-forming, made over-the-counter in the '60's or '70's.

Sounds like he needs a decongestant, but what do they recommend for over two? Half of that amount surely could be considered in an extreme case, just so the child could rest!

However, then they couldn't sell you that $65.00 prescription they're working on...

Nothing without a doctors order. Be careful what you give a youngster without a full examination. I know it's hard, I had five of them, now 13 grands that are always calling for advice.

It sounds like an seasonal asthma or an upper respiratory. In either case it will take a doctors order for the meds.
A case for anti-biotics. Inhalers, etc.

i think there is liquid Benadryl for kids. But be sure to ask the pharmacist, if its maybe one of those drugs, that you cant give to kids under 2yrs.Walgreen's walmart has pharmacists on duty.
