How do i get rid of my allergies?

whats the best way to get rid of my allergies( runny nose, itchy eyes etc...) i went to my doctor he gave me pills and they didnt work, i went to the store and tried a diff. kind of pills and they didnt work either.

do you know any over the counter pills a actualy work?
or anything that would help?

pills THAT actualy work****

I agree that pills don't get rid of allergies: At best, they control the symptoms. What you need to do is get what you're allergic to out of your environment if you can.

If it's dust and pollen- and those are frequent culprits- become a clean freak, use an air cleaner, and replace your carpet with area rugs. Don't forget to clean the filters to your heating/AC unit.

Now, I understand that locally produced raw honey is supposed to help with allergies. I don't actually *know* that this is so, but unless you're allergic to honey it's worth a try.

Meanwhile, I've found that hot drinks and steam seem to help most when I have hay fever or a cold.

Have you been back to your doctor to tell him that the pills aren't working?

Good luck!

have you tried a nose spray...i've been on nasonex for a while now with much success(i'm very allergic to cats, pollen, dust...basically everything) i'd suggest a nose spray or possibly trying allergy shots...though they are expensive they are very effective....i'm waiting on the call to have the testing done so i can start them again. here's some more info on them http://www.webmd.com/allergies/guide/sho... , http://www.nasonex.com/nasx/application. sorry these are both prescription/doctor referred, the pills don't really work for me

As far as I know medicine cannot cure allergies, you must know what you are allergic to than try to avoid eating or contact it. For example if you are allergic to animal's fur etc. than try to avoid it. For example I am allergic to late night cold air if I don't sleep too late than I keep on sneezing or running nose, so it's best avoid it rather than take medication.

Personally I've tried them all and the best thing for my allergies is the Walmart brand (Equate) of Claritin. It relieves ALL my symptoms and the cost is great!!!
