Why do most people in the us/canada have so many strange allergies ex.. peanuts, etc.? |
In some european countries nobody has even heard of such a thing. The studies I've read say that food allergies are on the rise. They speculate that there is a link between the trend to keeping babies in practically sterile environments, preventing them from being exposed (and building up immunities) to basic allergens and germs. It could also be our food. Most of our food is genetically modified. This is not the case in the EU where genetically modified foods are banned. I don't think there have been studies done, but I think someone should do them. Most people in the US don't have peanut allergies. Peanuts are a common food in the US and peanut butter is given to kids as a typical childhood food. That seems to have some connection with peanut allergy. So in any case, it is more common in the US, but typically still pretty rare. As I understand, allergies are on the rise in the U.S. When I was a kid, very few children had peanut allergies. In fact, I don't believe one single kid out of our class of about 40 had a serious food allergy. I've heard it may be linked to the amount of toxins in our environment. Excuse me? Where did you get the idea that in Europe people don't get peanut (or food) alergies? Do you think we are some sort of aliens or something? We get all the alergies you do in the US, believe me. Anyway, I'm off to eat some peanuts. I think we are too obsessed with cleanliness and our immune systems are going crazy because we never encounter real germs so our immune systems go crazy on pollen and peanuts, etc. Most european countries don't eat peanuts, they eat hazelnuts instead. Maybe in europe kids do have peanut allergies but never know about it...they eat peanuts and get an allergic reaction, they probably think its due to something else |
