Are my allergies worse this year because of global warming?

it's weather, not climate.
allergies are usually very responsive to weather patterns.
in addition, we tend to forget how bad stuff was a year ago.

it could be that global warming will be good for your allergies.
it might reduce the number and kinds of plants that trigger them in your area.

Global warming is too gradual to make a difference this year versus last year. But various researchers have concluded that pollen counts have increased or are due to increase.

In an article in the March edition of "Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology" Fakhri Bazzaz (professor of biology at Harvard University) and Peter Wayne (formerly with the Harvard University Department of Organismic and Evolutionary) concluded that rising carbon dioxide levels associated with global warming could lead to an increase in the incidence of allergies to ragweed and other plants by mid-century.

The USDA published an article in World Resource Review in 07, concluding that ragweed makes nearly twice as much pollen now as it did 100 years ago and will likely double its production again over the coming century with predicted increases in carbon dioxide levels.

Professor Jean Emberlin, director of Great Britton's National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit warned in '06 that pollen counts in GR have increased, There are several aspects to the problem," Professor Emberlin said.

"Firstly, the pollen season for trees is coming earlier with climate change. In the UK, over the past 30 years the tree pollen season has got earlier by five days per decade.

"Second, the grass pollen season is tending to go on longer in the summer. Twenty years ago it was probably finished by the end of July. Increasingly, it goes on until the first or second week of August, and this is reflected in GP consultation rates for hay fever.

"Third, there has been a trend in the past 10 years for the effects of grass pollen to become more severe. If plants are stressed by high temperature and/or pollution, they tend to produce more protein on the pollen grain, to maximise their chances of reproduction. It is the protein content which is the allergen, which causes the reaction, so the same amount of pollen grain has a more pronounced effect.

"All of this is caused by changing weather patterns which are consistent with predictions of climate change."

I guess the final absolute answer is "maybe".

Global Warming is a JOKE! lemme tell you something! for the past THREE years it has snowed from SEPTEMBER to MAY<<<< here in Utah. and thats unusual for september, april and may months. when i lived in arizona 2 years ago we had a snowstorm that put 5 feet on the ground in 2 days! a record!! so dont gemme this bs about global warming!!

No. Global warming is a fraud. I live in the upper midwest. June is well on its way to becoming the eighth consecutive month of below average temperatures for the area. Just keep rootin' for the Cubbies and everything will be right.

That can't be. For your allergies to be worse, some plant, mold, or animal would have to have benefited from global warming. We all know global warming has no benefits to anything in nature according to the zealots.

Don't believe in global warming it was a very cold and brutal winter.
