If you are in a warm location it is probably a reaction to fly bites - you know how flies clamor mainly around eyes.

I use Aromaitch every summer for my boy - it keeps the flies away, stops the itching and bald patches recover really quickly. My boy Jacob used to rub on fence posts until he had nasty sores, fly bites drove him nuts.

Be careful not to actually get it in the eyes though - even though it is all natural it is very effective. If you are in the USA you can buy it here: http://www.equinat-usa.com/cgi-bin/shopp...

my horse had some of that but it was from her scratching it. If yours is scratching her face you need to get Selsun (anti dandruff for humans). I used it once on my horse and all her itches went away just wash her with it once a week, like a full body wash. If that doesn't work i guarantee that Neem oil extract (available from health stores) will work its natural and if its a fungus or itch it will remove it just apply the oil on a cotton pad and apply to the itch one or two times a day

in the summer my horse ALWAYS looses hair like around her eyes...every time i am done riding i wash her off...i use iodine soap and wash her face even sometimes wash her whole body with is...let it sit for a couple mins then wash it off...the scabs could be some kind of fungus..if i gets real bad then pour a little alcohol on it....then spray with water...they will jump at first but they get use to it...if it is a fungus then check and see if any other horses that live with yours have the same kind of symptoms....ask a doctor

allergies is my best bet for her face, but i would look into how she is treater by other horses in the paddock for her chest

it could be rain rot, or dry skin...get your vet to check it out. But its prbly nothing serious, my horse gets stuff like that too.

It could be allergie....fly bites...etc
