Has anyone had a problem with carefresh bedding causing allergies in hamster?

I heard carefresh was the best but 2 days after I started using it my hamster started sneezing. Acting normal.

I use carefresh all the time with my hamsters.
There's 2 main problems with it, the mites which is a rarity but if you freeze the bedding for one night before you use it they die.
Also the one you are experiencing. Your hamsters aren't allergic to carefresh but the bedding is dusty. mine are fine in it, however your hamster must have a really sensitive nose so it's not going to work for you. But if you have the original version of carefresh [the grey-ish one] try using carefresh ultra, it's improved in both absorbing and a lot less dusty. If your already using Ultra then try a bedding call Sun seed Fresh world Bedding. [It's a petsmart brand] It works just as good, I just like the way carefresh looked more. There's also Kaytee Soft-Sorbent [at petco and petsmart.] that is often compared to carefresh except people don't seem to have any dust problems but it is only slightly less absorbent

We got mites about the same time we had our first batch of carefresh. Didn't think much of it (and not certain this was cause, but also dont have another logical source) until another poster mentioned that they got mites from carefresh.

I don't like carefresh for moms and babies - ours "lost" the babies in it and were frantically searching for the missing pups. I've NEVER heard anyone else whose hamsters had this issue, so maybe ours aren't the brightest things. They do fine on aspen with their babies and haven't misplaced a baby this way.

No. I use Carefresh for all of my animals' cages & not one has developed an allergy to it. What makes you think your hamster has allergies? Is he acting funny?

Lily

No I used that all the time and I thought it was the best bedding. It's supposed to be hypoallergenic.
