Is it possible to develop an allergy to alcohol?

I'm talking the kind you drink, like wine or beer.

Yes you can, but its not so much the alcohol, but the process in making, the ingredients, such as preservatives, tannins, colourings etc. Source(s): http://www.allergy.org.nz/allergies/azal...

I don't know if you can develop and allergy, but you can definatly be allergic to it. My dad is allergic to alcohol.
Allergies know no limits.
Absolutely. You can develop an allergy to ANYTHING.... allergies are autoimmune. If your body rejects the allergen, then you get a reaction.

Google alcohol allergies & see all the articles.
Not to alcohol as such -- ethanol is too simple a molecule. However, it is possible to develop an allergy to some of the components of _drinks_ that contain alcohol. Port wine, for instance, is "clarified" with egg white, and allergy to eggs is a reasonably common complaint. And some red wines have more complex chemicals to which people can have a bad reaction (such as migraine headaches), But though some alcoholic drinks can make sensitive people horribly sick, it's not the alcohol that does it.
