My son has severe asthma and allergy problems.? |
We live in an old house and have some mold and mildew in the walls and floors. Needless to say, we cant afford a downpayment on something else. does anyone know any groups or organizations that can help? Try a saline nasal RINSE (not a spray) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean). I've been doing it at work too. The buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot. The special bottle and salt is about $20. You can do this a often as you like with no bad side effects. You don鈥檛 need a prescription for this therapy. So if you live in a state like mine, they鈥檝e pretty much 鈥渙utlawed鈥?sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the way to go on a frequent-use basis. (I put in a link for 鈥渨hat鈥?and 鈥渉ow鈥?鈥?there鈥檚 also some good info the American Academy of Otolaryngology) Source(s): http://nasopure.com/kidpage.html... http://www.nasopure.com/what.html... http://www.entnet.org/healthinfo/sinus/s... sell the place or create a place in the home that you can use No excuse.Go rent a nicer house. There are some insurances that cover mold and will help to pay for fixing the problems. Or speak with a contractor to see who could come into your home to fix the problem and possibly they can give you an estimate. Talk with your child's doctor about looking into an allergy medicine that can help your son as well. Mold can be very dangerous to children with asthma and certain allergies. I also suggest you invest in some air purifiers with HEPA filters to put in the rooms your son spends his time in. Good ones can run $100-$200, so go on to Amazon.com and look at a few and read the reviews on them. Depending on how big your house is, I would say get two or three. One for his bedroom and one for the living room and any other room he is in. Most people say to avoid the ones with ionizers because they are actually harmful for the environment. Try the Habitat for Humanity site. They help people all over in different counties. Also talk to people from your local salvation army...if they can't help, they generally know someone who can. Or try Oprah Winfrey, she loves to give things away to people who need them...don't quit looking, there are people out there to help...you just have to find them. |
