My mother and I both did an allergy skin test. Our skin turned red / rash, when we were allergic to food, plants or animals. My mother has soy allergy. But she can eat Chinese food, soybeans, soybean oil, soy sauce. I have an oat allergy and can eat oat and cheerios at breakfast. We never had an allergic reaction, why?

you could have delayed food allergy,many times you may be eating your allergies on a daily basis but then only feel the affects a few days after the allergen this is called delayed response.you are still overburdening your immune system by giving your body something it doesnt tolerate.You need to avoid these foods for a period of 6 months and then try to reintroduce them back into your diet one by one,you may see that even the skin test reactions are greatly reduced.Follow a an allergy elimination/rotation diet.You should be avoiding those allergens that react in your tests.Because each time you expose yourself to the allergen you are risking a severe reaction at some point in the future.Ask your doctor about including those foods in your diet.Just to be on the safe side you may want to keep a stash of benadryl or an epi-pen.
