My 6 yr. old daughter gets allergy shots that make her change into a hyper, unruly, and defiant child.? |
Has anyone heard of this? Her dr says he's never heard of it and shrugs it off. The reaction starts about 2 hours after the shot is given. She gets mad at everything, throws things, backtalks & we cant reason with her about anything. We're considering taking her off the shots Under the circumstances, I think you would be right to. And you would be right to find another doctor who won't shrug off your concerns. Some years ago, I read an article about similar things happening to a boy when exposed to certain food additives and excess sugar. It follows that shots might have a similar effect, since it is introducing substances to the body. Good luck! Depends on what it is in the shots. I have asthmatic children and the steriods they use when they have a violent attack, makes them a little crazy.....doesn't last very long tho. Really....you need a new doctor. If any doctor ever shrugged at me when I'm asking questions, he's fired! well i no a person that hade that all u have to do is be by her side and or let her be hyper she cant help it Yeah, it can be a side effect. maybe try homeopathic remedy insstead of the shots. Have you considered the possibility that she is using the shots as a reason to misbehave? Does she not like the shots? Does she see it as a betrayal that you object her to the pain of them? I've gone through dozens of allergy tests, shots, exposures, scratches, anything and everything. I've had both of my eyes swollen shut simultaneously from poison ivy. Allergies cause itchy eyes and throat, watery eyes, sneezing, a runny nose, and sometimes coughing. There are no psychological effects, at least in my experience. That being said, I have found Allegra to be more effective than anything else at neutralizing the body's histamine response. Try talking to another Doctor - otherwise if it is ok take her off them and get her allergy tested, then instead of trying to combat the allergy through chemicals you can take out the foods that may be causing her problems. Also try and avoid commercial soaps and cleaners - use organic if possible for soaps and shampoos and try something like ecover for clothes and dishes. A probiotics supplement may help - Primadophilus Reuteri is an excellent "friendly bacteria", which is the same bacteria found in Human breast milk. Good luck Change doctors as you take her off the shots. |
