Is there any such thing as an allergy to soft drink cans?

My grandmother can't drink from an aluminum can. If her lips contact the can, they swell up. Drinking from a straw, she's fine, so it's not the soda. Also, it doesn't affect her hands. Any ideas?

She probably has a metal allergy..every time i drink out of a can i get sore o my lips....use a straw
You can be allergic to anything. Yes, she's allergic to the aluminum cans. I'm surprised she isn't allergic to whatever is IN the cans........? She should drink beverages from glass or plastic. Pour it into a glass or plastic cup and just take aluminum out of the equation completely. You can get soda in plastic bottles.
