Y do some people have to switch allergy medicine's from time to time?

a friend of mine takes allegra for her allergies. but she says that after a while she has to take benadryl because her body wont take allegra anymore. but after awhile she has to start up again on Allegra. does anyone know why

your body gets immuned to the same kind, it is good to rotate every month
The only two reasons i can think of are that her body could possibly become dependent on it or build an immunity to it.
I am on Allegra 180 1 per day. My Doctor says that it is good to change about every 3 months. When mine slacks off some I just take 1 Benedryl with the Allegra and it works great for me. I usually only have to do this when I spend a lot of time with my dogs and in allergy season. Good Luck :)
