I have recently discovered i have a yeast allergy and curious as to which medications contain yeast? Most medications should say on the packet if they have yeast in them. You should be fine with most though. Some vaccines contain yeast so check with your doctor or pharmacist before hand. Also try and avoid antibiotics. If you have a yeast condition in your body such as candida albicans antibiotics can accelerate the growth of it and you can end up with conditions such as thrush (oral/vaginal). Eating yoghurt should actually be fine as it contains good bacterias like acidophilus and bifidus which aid the bowels in the digestion process. There is no yeast in yoghurt, it is just fermented and cultured dairy. You can also buy acidophilus in capsule or powder form. I don't know of any medications that have "yeast" in them. There are many herbal and food supplements that contain yeast.Very common additive. Take care. SW FNP Don't know, but eat sourdough rye bread, as no yeast is used. I'd avoid yoghurt, & all alcoholic beverages use yeast to convert carbohydrates to alcohol (beer contains a lot, especially cloudy ales), but you can buy pure alcohol (ethanol), which you may be able to tolerate, diluted with a fair bit of sodas, colas, fruit juice, or water. Poisonous neat!!! Try pharmacies & chemical supply places. |
