Does this sound like a latex allergy??? 40 weeks pregnant and VERY irritated down there? |
My doctor checked me yesterday for dilation/effacement, and he was wearing latex gloves. All day yesterday I felt a mild burning/itching.. its gotten very bad today! Sorry if its TMI! I've tried to use a KY Jelly to "lubricate" but it just burns! I doubt it's because of your due date. I went to 42 weeks and didn't have any of that. It might be a latex allergy. I am allergic to latex and I found out when they put that strap around my belly that monitors the contractions and the baby's heartbeat. I started itching and got very irritated. I would still check with your doctor just in case though. You want to know before you go into labor if you are so they can take precautions not to let you come in contact with latex. If you have never noticed a reaction to latex in the past.. it's most likely irritation due to the pressure of the baby in that area.... Don't worry you are almost there... Congratulations and best wishes... if your concerned call your doctor. Have you never used condoms? and if he used a latex glove chances are he has used it before. . i doubt he just up and changed his gloves. You would probably know before know if it is an allergy. So much wierd stuff goes on down there when your pregnant you never know! could be, i am allergic and i found out in high school when a bf used a condom. i was red, itchy, and swollen. check with your doc cause they can use latex free gloves next time just to be safe! I would say that the Dr. introduced some bacteria when he did the exam and it messed up your PH. It would be strange for a latex allergy to just appear, especially since you have been examined before. I have one, but I have had it since I was little. I would try some vagasil, eat some yogurt, and ask at your next appt. if they would culture for an infection. You are VERY prone to them when you are pregnant. Hopefully you will deliver soon, and trust me when I say that some mild itching will not even concern you... |
