Can you have a food allergy if you haven't previously suffered?

I was just wondering if food allergies can develop or worsen over time?

My symptoms started about 2 years ago with just a post-nasal drip. As time went on I got more and more depressed and my diet got worse and was high in fast acting carbs. I then began to have hypoglycemic episodes so cut sugar out my diet 3 months ago.

I'm still feeling fatigued, and have a strange 'stretching' feeling around my chin and throat. It sometimes feels like I have a lump in my throat.

Is it worth going down the allergy route?

To have an allergy, the substance must be a protein. If you have a reaction to something, it can also be a sensitivity and yes, this can develop and it is the body's defense mechanism that is doing this.

If you believe you are allergic or have a sensitivity to something, there is a very simple test you can do right in your very own home to determine if it is true. Just sit in a chair for about 5 minutes very calmly and then take your pulse for a full 60 seconds (not the 15 sec. multiply by 4 thing) and record the pulse rate on a piece of paper. Then chew the substance you believe you may be allergic or sensitive too for 30 seconds, keeping it in your mouth, take your pulse again for the full 60 seconds and record that number. If there is a difference of 6 or more pulse beats, you have an allergic or sensitivity to that substance. If you are type "O" blood, then 4 beats is the criteria.

The post nasal drip issue can cause bacteria to constantly bombard your throat and cause it to become inflamed due to minor infection. The root cause of this is most likely in your liver. A high carb diet will not only cause the hypoglycemic problem, but create big problems for your endocrine system. The endocrine is a system of complex relationships and when you affect one of the organs in the system, you will affect them all and the liver is part of that system. The real problem with high low density carb eating is grains. Managing the leptrin hormone is very important and it is produced in the liver. Leptrin is responsible for the management of your insulin and stabilizing your blood sugar, as important as it is, is not as important as the Leptrin issue. Eating grains can greatly affect your body's ability to correctly manage hormones and will contribute heavily to pre-diabetes condition (also known as hypoglycemia). A good blood sugar handling diet, along with eliminating a lot of grains from your diet and shifting toward good high density carbs is a good move. But do not forget the fats, because too many people fall into the trap of this LOW FAT craze that is very destructive to the body. Your body must have fats in balance. AVOID at all costs the VEGETABLE OILS, because they are very damaging to the body. They are polyunsaturated nightmares. Nature packaged polyunsaturated oils very nicely in seeds, nuts, etc., but those contain lots of phytonutrients that protect the oils from becoming rancid or oxidized from oxygen. When the oils are extracted, oxygen immediately oxidizes them and any heat, including your own body heat, will oxidize them. The clear bottles they package that junk in allows light to enter the contents and oxidize it. These oils have been traced to making bad bile, causing hardening of the arteries, etc.

A good balanced diet consists of 40% carbs, 30% fats, and 30% proteins. Of the 30% fats, you should consume 60% of those as monounsaturated fats (like what you get from olive oil), 30% saturated fats (like what you get from real butter made from raw dairy, coconut oils, and fat from cows that have been grazed on grass); and 10% polyunsaturated fats in a 1:1 ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids as found in seeds, nuts, fish oils that are not rancid, etc.

good luck to you

Your food allergies may worsen or get better with time. For individual foods it may vary. Sometimes you may believe that you got an allergy for the first time with a particular food. But it may be that you have taken the protein causing allergy even earlier in minimal quantities unknown to you.
You have to distinguish between food allergy and food intolerance. Sometimes what you think as allergy may be a food intolerance.
In allergies there is usually associated, rash or itching or development of wheezing or a very severe ana phylaxis.

Can I guess that you were diabetic earlier? Are you on any drugs.. Or was it that you got the hypoglycemic attacks without diabetes.
Is the depression you mention a self diagnosed one or have you been on treatment.

Have you got your system investigated.

It is not worth going on any route which you believe is correct. You may meet a doctor ,or if you think you initially prefer this route for advise, E- mail me with answers to my queries and anything more which you like to added.

yes i would say so. you can become allergic to anything at any time. start a food dairy. do this for 2 weeks. everytime you put something in your mouth write it down. a little bit later write down how you feel. you also need to see a dr. drink plenty of water. drinking water keeps everything going smooth. to sweeten you tea or coffee use stevia. it comes from a plant in paraguay. i use it. i have corn and wheat allergies. you must learn to read all food labels on everything you buy everytime you buy. manuf's change with no notice.

My mother is allergic to pineapple. I've always enjoyed eating it with no effect on me. And then one day, BAM, allgergic reaction.

My docter said that you body develops an allergic reaction over time. It's something that builds up as you expose your self to the allergen.

You can start testing for allgergies. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Are there any allegies that run in your family?
Keep a diary and write down when you experience these symptoms, what you are doing and what you are eating. There will help the doctor to see if there is a pattern and make it easier to test for a specific allergen.

Yes, it is possible to have allergy reactions even though you may not have suffered from them previously. It is likely that there is a build up in toxins that is causing a flare up right now. For confirmation, you should always seek the help of a medical doctor.

Actually I just had allergy tests done and they said it happens sometimes with age but most often not. Have you had any allergy tests done? It's worth it.
