Baby's milk protein allergy.?

My daughter has a milk protein allergy and she is ready to start on table food. It is so frustrating. I wan't her to eat with the rest of the family, but going casein and whey free is so hard. I can't find recipes. I don't know what to substitute dairy items with. Is there milk free butter, cheese, cake? If so what is it called and where can I get it. I am from the middle of no where so these things are not easily found for me. Am I alone here? Why is there such a lack of information on this? I am soooooooo Frustrated with it all! I went dairy free to nurse and all I had was meat fruit and veggie. Is my daughter stuck with this? She is also allergic to carrots, mangos, cats, & some trees. I feel so guilty that I'm not doing better at managing this.

My daughter was allergic to milk proteins for the first 12 months of her life, but has luckily grown out if it. However, since I couldn't find a lot of finger foods without whey or casein, she is now a horribly picky 19 month old.
I was never able to find diary products without either whey or casein in it, but I am sure that they exist.
When my daughter was ready to start solids, we pretty much stuck to vegetables and fruits. The good news is that she is young, and has some time to grow out of some of her allergies. Over 60% of children completely outgrow their allergies by the time they are 3.

I remember when my daughter was 13 months and she had her first drink of milk. I think I held my breath for a day...LOL.

well seeing as how vegans are a growing culture there should be stuff out there on soy products, and is it a cow thing or can eat have goat's milk. my ex was allergic to cows milk and they kept a milking goat in the back yard as a pet. i can't say about the cakes but they have soy and goat(or sheep) milk and cheese. best bet is soy. the allergy really isn't that bad a lot of ppl give it up by choice, our bodies weren't created to digest that stuff very well anyways. the worst part will be the lack of ice cream in her life.
good luck!
