Is this a chlorine allergy? |
Hi, I'm a competitive swimmer and swim 2 hours a day for 5 days a week. Recently, I noticed spots on my tanned skin to be lighter. I wear sunscreen daily. I'm not sure what is wrong, could this be a chlorine allergy? I don't have red bumps or anything. I just have some light-colored areas on my skin. protect the acid mantle of your skin with cocoa butter or shea butter when you are not in the pool. the chlorine is making your skin porous and not as good a shield as it used to be. drink vitamin C often. it builds collagen. It could just be the chlorine is lightening your skin colour, sometimes if there is too much chlorine in a pool you can get a rash from it but considering it isn't anywhere else I doubt it's a rash from it, also considering that you swim 2 hours a day 5 days a week in chlorinated water it would have come up more if it were an allergy my little brother has exema* a skin rash, he's allergic to chlorine and thats what makes it appear. it is like read dots/bumps all over. just go to your doctor and ask him what he thinks. he will probably send you to a dermetologist*. sometimes, this is caused by sun damage. follow up with your dermatologist. |
