Wher can I get a Food Allergy test done to see if Im allergic to shellfish? |
I use to eat shrimp a lot as a kid but when I was like 10 years old I thought I was having a reaction to it but I probably wasnt and had just scared myself into thinking I was allergic because of some tragic events that day. Go to your Dr. S/he will be able to perform one for you. I don't suggest even trying shellfish until you know for sure. My aunt didn't know she was allergic to the iodine that is in them, it's the same type of iodine that they use in contrast dyes for medical reasons. She went in to get tested for Breast Cancer and they used an iodine contrast dye. The second the dye hit her system she had a seizure and right after a stroke. This happened last September, and she hasn't been the same since. She was forced into retirement. So I would be careful if I were you. You would have to see an allergist..but be very wary of these people...they want you to return to have shots for anything they can find..and sometimes you can have a bad reaction to the shots. Is eating shellfish really all that important? I am allergic to a lot of seafoods myself, shrimp included. See a reputable, board certified allergist. |
