Vet said I can use Benadryl for itching dogs with unknown allergies. Is this safe and how much do I give? |
I have 3 dogs with same problem, it looks like. They are all on the Advantage flea and tick drops. So, it can't be fleas. The areas are so itchy that they whine, they can't chew fast enough. If not Benadryl, what do you suggest? Benadryl is quite effective when used in proper dosages. It helps the following symptoms: i would def use the benadryl i used to use it for my dog when he got bug bites in the summer...i dont remember how much i gave him but if u call the vet and tell them the dogs weight they will be able to tell u how much each of the dogs can have. It CAN still be fleas. Advantage is NOT a repellant. There are no flea repellants out there yet for dogs or cats. So, the fleas can still get on and bite, but they die very fast after they come in contact with treated pets or areas where the pets have laid. |
