Are there any side effects, concerning sun exposure, with the allergy medicine Zyrtec? |
I switched from Allegra to Zyrtec about three months ago. I have never had any type of reaction due to sun exposure before... I just wondered if sun poisoning can be a side effect of Zyrtec. And what do I do now??? Stay out of the sun as much as you can and moisturize the affected area(s) to sooth the skin... you can try an after-sun lotion (I like Alba Organics Kona Coffee after-sun lotion), but the best thing for you is to keep away from the sun for a few days -- if you can't avoid it, limit your exposure and wear plenty of sunscreen. Your sun poisoning can be caused by birth control pills or another medication, but cetirizine (Zyrtec) shouldn't cause it. Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Zyrtec. More common side effects in adults may include: drowsiness dry mouth fatigue Less common side effects in adults may include: dizziness sore throat More common side effects in children aged 6 to 11 may include: abdominal pain coughing diarrhea headache nosebleed sleepiness sore throat wheezing Less common side effects in children aged 6 to 11 may include: nausea vomiting as far as you can see.. none is related to sun exposure. good luck. I don't know the side affects but that is the best medicine for allergies, unless there are food allergies, becuase the only treatment with food allergies is cutting down the food causing it |
