This question is for any women who have been pregnant and had allergy problems or for anyone knowledgeable?

Is Benadryl Allergy safe to take during pregnancy? Anyone who is knowledgeable about allergies in pregnant women can answer this question. Pregnant women can't take any type of medication. Sometimes people who have experienced this can be more knowledgeable than some doctors.

Yes. Benadryl is one med that is safe during pregnancy. Doctors like to limit meds especially in first 3 months of pregnancy to only those absolutely necessary, so you should weigh how much discomfort you are in before treating. Antibiotics can also be taken if needed but only take meds under the supervision and with permission from your doctor just to be safe. Some well meaning people may want give advice without full knowledge of possible outcomes or side effects. The obstetricians are the specialists who know what is safe for you and your unborn child. God Bless! Source(s): I have had two kids and was very careful during pregnancy what medication I took. I also work for a doctors office and have experience and knowledge in the medical field. We allow Benadryl use in breastfeeding women who can pass on the medication through breastmilk to their infant.
When I was pregnant with my son, I took two benadryl every night to help with my allergies and to help me to sleep. My OB-GYN said it was perfectly fine.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I did the same thing. My midwife said it was absolutely fine as well. She said she even reccomended it as a sleep aid for pregnant women.

It did help my allergies tremendously. After a few days it gets in your system and is more effective at combating them.

Hope this helps!
Yes it is safe. I took Benadryl Allergy while expecting all 3 of my kids. Plus Tylonal PM which does have the same active drug as Benadryl.

But first call your dr to make sure. With all 3 of my kids my dr and when I was the midwives they gave me a sheet of meds that were ok to take while expecting.
it is safe to take, my docter told me I could take it. it knocked me on my butt but don't overdose, read the instructions very carefully. it was on my list of approved medications to take. I have really bad allergies.

It isn't true that pregnant women cannot take ANY medication. Otherwise a lot of people would die to "save their pregnancy" Some people must take cerain medication like blood pressure medication and many others. There is a big book called the PDR- Physician's Desk Reference- that rates medications for pregnant women. I think it's A through C or D. A being no problem for pregnant women. Drugs like Tylenol and Benedryl and many others are ABSOLUTELY SAFE in the correct dose, during pregnancy. Do trust your Doctor, they will give you a list of safe medications and those that you should NOT take or ask first BEFORE taking. Good Luck.
