My daughter has a cough and I'm pretty sure it's an allergy cough, she's six, can doctors give her anything? |
She gets it a couple of times a year. Usually Benadryl helps, but it makes her sleepy. I need something that helps while she's at school. I was wondering if she's old enough now that the doctors will be able to give her something that helps. Anyone have any clues? Something which bugs me when my kids are at school is that they have to get prescriptions for ANY medicine at all and have to store it in the nurses office. A way to help with allergy suffering anytime of the day and is drug-free is a nasal rinse. Try a saline nasal RINSE (not a spray) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean). I've been doing it at work in the restroom with a fresh fill of warm water and some of the packet. The buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot. The special bottle and salt is about $20. You can do this a often as you like with no bad side effects. You don鈥檛 need a prescription for this therapy. So if you live in a state like mine, they鈥檝e pretty much 鈥渙utlawed鈥?sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the cheapest way to go on a frequent-use basis. Source(s): http://www.nasopure.com/kidpage.html... Yes. There are prescriptions, but the docs used to prescribr Dimetapp back when it was prescription only, and other allergy meds. Yes the doctors can give her something. They have Anti-biotics for children which are not as strong as they are for adults Drugs! Better known as prescriptions! Toxic chemicals better known as medicine. Good luck. A cough is the body's response to inflammation or irritation in the throat, larynx, bronchial tubes or lungs. Some coughs are dry, while others are considered productive. Here are a few simple home remedies that will help to overcome cough. Have honey in a hot drink before bed time.To relieve fits of coughing due to dryness in the throat, suck a few pepper corns. More remedies at http://useinfo6.blogspot.com/ If it is an allergy cough it is likely to be caused by something in her diet or environment. If you can't get her tested by an expert, then you can do lots to find out the cause. It's much better to work with prevention than with medication. Medication only covers up symptoms, it doesn't fix the underlying problem. With food or drink, the most likely suspect is what she craves or has every day. Milk and dairy foods can be a prime cause of coughs. Also bread and other yeasts can be a cause. Watch to see what she is eating a lot of (or drinking a lot of) and remove the things from her diet that she is dependant on. What we are intolerant of is usually what we crave. If it is an environmental thing, check her bedding for allergenic products like feathers, down, wool etc. Check the dust levels in the rooms she spends a lot of time in. Get some info and advice on how to make your environment more allergy friendly. Please don't just give her medication. Kids today are subjects to colourants, flavourants, synthetic chemicals in so many foods. |
