Are there any types of dogs that are VERY low on the allergy / dander scale?

Your best bet would be to go with a short haired variety, and to take it to get a bath and groomed on a weekly basis. Also, don't let it sleep with you or anything. Also, you can get a HEPA filter to remove some of it from the air. Another option if you are allergic to dander is to get allergy shots. They worked wonders for me! Source(s): Experience
