I developed a severe itch all over after having acrylic nails put on--allergy ????

I have had them removed and am itch free--maybe the glue they used ???

that or you are allergic to acrylic
anyways glad to hear that your doing better now :)Yes, sounds like something they used caused an allergic reaction. I definately wouldn't try getting my nails done again because next time the reaction could be worse than just an itch.
Try to get latex free nails if you want them.
This happens a lot in my industry- many people are allergic to acrylics. Free acrylics, in particular. My guess is that the glue contains acrylic acid or something known as HEMA. acrylic acid is on a list of chemicals the government would like to ban due to the health effects, but can't because it is the only substance out there to make acrylic glues/adhesives stick. Once someone has become sensitized, they commonly have the same reactions forever. effectively, an allergy.

I've seen people's hands completely raw- like they were burned. I guess the burn and itch goes to the bone. there is nothing to stop it other than the person ceasing contact to it. Yikes, just thinking about it brings back pretty bad (industrial) nightmares...
