My lil' sis had hives(small blochy red spots) in places and her mouth swelled up. Is this an allergy or virus?


My lil' sister who is 13 had a bad cold after comming back from Flordia to Indiana and after her cold she broke out in hives on her neck legs back and stomach. We took her to the Doc and got meds for her to take two times thinking it was an allergic reaction to something and the hives went away both times. She recived some light steriods and a prescription of a one a day 24 hour Zrytec. Then last night after thinking everything was okay her enitre little mouth swelled up really big and we took her to the hospital again at 3 AM. The Doctor said it was a viral infection this time.

I've been trying to reasearch the topic though I'm just curious if anyone has any information that would help.

Sounds like a viral infection. Hives would be a allegic reaction.Best to go to the doctors office.
Could be herpies! But there ain't a way to diagnose her online & I ain't got MD after my name!

find out if she's haveing sex. and if she is with who . find out if he's sick or has something. also find out if she's eating anything regularly between both times.
Havies are only created by an allergey so go to the doc to see if you can track the allergey

Try webmd.com and enter her symptoms in the search there. It should help a little, I think.
